The Central Intell Agency blog has names, photographs, and a little information in French about some people supposedly in the C.I.A.
We've never spied. It is occasionally said that the CIA failed to get secrets or properly interpret them. When a violinist is hired by a professional, symphonic orchestra, he played violin expertly for many years before that professional, philharmonic job. When an athlete is hired to play ball as part of a major league baseball team, he played baseball expertly before he was hired. When someone is hired by McDonald's, he may have never cooked French fries before that job. If an organization wants to be the world's best, it insists on hiring pesonnel who are expert before they're hired. A professional, symphonic orchestra which needs a violinist does not hire someone who never touched a violin.
The CIA needs two, principal occupations:
CIA spying is like McDonald's cooking of French fries: done by many people who never did it before they were hired. If the CIA had a symphonic orchestra, people would be hired as violinists who never had touched a violin before being hired. If the CIA had a major league baseball team, people would be hired who never had touched a bat. The CIA understands the concept of being expert at a CIA job before being hired to do it. The CIA often insists that non-spies be expert before being hired to do non-spy work. For example, the CIA does not hire someone to be an Urdu-English translator who does not already know how to translate between Urdu and English. It's not enough for the CIA that the new translator be good with words and eager to start learning Urdu and English. The CIA does not hire as a physician someone who has never used a sphygmomanometer. It would be ridiculous to complain that McDoanld's does not do the world's best cooking or that the CIA does not do the world's best spying. They are in different niches of their respective industries.
